Messerschmitt Bf-109F "Friedrich" Series
by Flight Replicas For Fs2004 (Will Work in FSX sp1)

The Messerschmitt Bf-109 was the standard fighter of the Luftwaffe for the duration of WWII. The Bf-109 scored more air-to-air victories in WWII than any other aircraft, and thanks to an excellent design, served in various roles, including air superiority fighter, escort fighter, interceptor, ground-attack and reconnaissance aircraft. The Bf 109 was produced in greater quantities than any other fighter aircraft in history, with over 31,000 built. Although the Bf 109 had weaknesses, including a difficult to handle narrow undercarriage, through constant development the aircraft managed to remain a competitive force against Allied fighter aircraft until the end of hostilities in May 1945. The Bf-109 was flown by the three top scoring fighter aces of World War II : Erich Hartmann, the top scoring fighter ace of all time with 352 victories, Gerhard Barkhorn with 301 victories, and Günther Rall with 275 victories. Hartmann refused to fly any other type of aircraft in combat throughout the war.

Work began on a new version of the Bf-109 at the start of 1940, to replace the Bf-109E. The fuselage aerodynamics was improved, most noticeably with a new engine cowling and spinner, and the squared wings of the Emil replaced by newly designed and improved units featuring most noticeably rounded wing tips and a different flap configuration. The first production series F-1/F-2 received the 1,175 hp (875 kW) DB601N engine. The 1,350 hp (1,005 kW) DB601E was first used in the F-3 model together with a better propeller with improved performance. The most popular version, the F-4, appeared at the start of 1942. Pilots generally agreed that the F series were the best-handling of all the Bf 109 series.
This aircraft has a beautifully rendered cockpit that is designed to be flown in at all times. For this reason no 2D panel is included at this time. Highlights include unique animations such as the gunsight rotating in and out of place as well as custom 3D gauges.
